Abstract:
Thanks to the quick technological evolution of the past decades, the amount of data generated, collected, elaborated, and managed every day is growing exponentially. It is also becoming easier and easier to elaborate such huge amount of data to extract useful information for decision making. The evolution of ICT has also enabled quick and easy data sharing and publication, which are vital for our modern society.
However, collected data might include sensitive information about the data subjects. Data sharing and publication should therefore preserve the privacy of data subjects.
This course will focus on the privacy issues arising when publicly releasing data in different forms (e.g., statistical dbms, macrodata, microdata), and will introduce protection techniques specifically designed to protect different kinds of data release. The course will illustrate privacy-preserving data release solutions based on k-anonymity and differential privacy models.
